Worksystems, Inc. (WSI) is a nonprofit organization that connects job seekers with employers by funding career placement and training services. WSI is staff to the local Workforce Investment Board for Oregon Region 2. The Board sets policy, provides strategic direction and oversight for the region’s workforce development system. The region consists of the City of Portland, Multnomah and Washington Counties. Sam is the local elected official representing the City of Portland.

Sam needs your help. Currently, there are two open board member positions for the city of Portland. Sam would like to hear your suggestions for board membership. Here are a few guidelines:

1. Appointees must be leaders from the private sector. Sam would like to ensure that the private sector has significant input in determining the workforce development priorities in our region;
2. Private sector members must be employed by a company located in the City of Portland;
3. Private sector board members must have policy-making and hiring authority within their company, and be experienced leaders and decision-makers;
4. Commit to participating in meetings, providing expertise, advocating for the workforce development system, and adhering to all terms and conditions of board membership.

Commissioner Adams, please watch out for new "employment" proposals from the India owned Ship Breakers Industry hoping to locate on the Willamette River. DEQ has enough to keep busy pulling (3) million dollar yachts up from the bottom of the Columbia River; and dumping three feet of clean gravel over contaimanted soil near Ross Island; their list goes on. Furthermore, with current funding crisis in the education of our children; Oregonians can no longer pickup expensive tabs to repair damanges to the enviroment, during and after the "ship breakers" leave.
Thanks for listening....
Blessings,
mas

First, it's bad enough that the PDC acts like the PDC (i.e. Brigehead Project where they pretended to listen then screwed us) it is worse when the City acts like PDC. How long is Vera's ghost going to hover over this city in the spectre of the tram, OHSU's attempt to become a destination resort for over pampered doctors. Clearly, the whole thing was decided long before the public ever heard about it,(explain the fiber optic cable laid past my home in Homestead nieghborhood years before the debate even started) and then all the work goes to Homer and his band bumblers. Sam, this is your chance to get National recognition for blowing the whistle and saying enough. Go for it.
