'Team Sam' & PDC Help Thortex Inc. Grow Jobs
Warren Jimenez
Thortex Inc., an orthopedic implant manufacture, started out in Clackamas with no interest in moving to Portland. Following up on a rumor that Thortex was looking to move to Clark County, Washington, Sam went to visit owners David and Kathy Walker. He drove them to potential sites in Portland, introduced them to Portland business leaders, and offered guaranteed permit process time lines. Working with the Portland Development Commission (PDC) Sam was able to convince Thortex to relocate into Portland.
Sam has stayed in touch with the Walkers. At the end of Sam's first 100 days in office, we were happy to announce that Thortex will be expanding their operations. They will be investing approximately $5 million to add 60 new family wage jobs. Once again, we will be involved to ensure this expansion goes as smoothly as the first time.

I think that David and Kathy Walker are really contributing to their city. I have personally met them and they are great people.
