Equality, Please: Lobbying for Civil Unions

Election Day 2004 was bittersweet for many of us. While Sam had managed an astounding come back in the campaign to win a seat on Portland's City Council, Oregonian's resoundingly voted discrimination into our state's constitution with the passage of Constitutional Amendment 36.
Sam vowed to continue advocating for a fair and just Oregon. As Portland's first openly gay city commissioner, Sam was hoping his story could help our lawmakers in Salem see the inherent injustice done when we bestow legal protections differently under the law.
Milestones
- March 30 - Rallyed with Oregonians in support of House Bill 2519.
- May 4 - Testified before the Senate Rules Committee in support of Senate Bill 1000.
- July 20 - Rallyed with Oregonians in support of Senate Bill 1000.
