The flyer says it all, "By cleaning up your criminal record, clearing up outstanding warrants and getting your license reinstated you will greatly increase your opportunities for employment, housing, self-empowerment and most importantly get you out of the criminal justice system."

Project Clean Slate, held at July 9 at PCC Cascade (Public Services Building, 909 N. Killingsworth) 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., is an opportunity for people to receive free legal help--without fear of arrest--to try and make right, and move on. Renee Mitchell wrote about it last week. For more information, call 503-343-5117 or visit the website at http://www.projectcleanslate.com.

AND ALTHOUGH I DO HAVE A JOB I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A BETTER ONE TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE BETTER FOR MY SONS AS I AM A SINGE MOTHER OF TWO SONS, AND I TRY TO INSTILL INTO THEM THE RIGHT THINGS IN LIFE TO DO. I AGAIN THANK YOU FOR THE CHANCE TO CLEAN UP MY LIFE AND WILL KEEP ATTENDING UNTIL I GET THE CHANCE TO SEE THE JUDGE

I would like know if I can qualify for Project Clean Slate. I have a record in Washington County (Hillsboro, OR). Since my arrest in July 2004 I have remained clean & sober, actively participate in 12-step programs, my children have been returned to me by DHS, I have enrolled full-time in college on a grant & scholarships(I currently have a 4.0 pt.);I also graduated from an intensive Inpatient Treatment program, completed Outpatient Tx, have paid all fines to the courts & State of Oregon....but it's still hard to get my foot in the door of the workforce with a possession charge hanging over my head, even with Voc. Rehab. helping me. Have I met the criteria for possible expungement?

Greetings.. I wanted to take a moment to give the good people in Portland an update on our progress on Project Clean Slate. As the originator of this highly successful program, we are moving forward to try and handle all of the requests for services. This will take time, a lot of time. We are all volunteers who have other jobs. We are processing about 1700 people that were pre-registered for PCS prior to July 9th and did not have an opportunity to see an attorney or judge. We have about 9000 more that have now pre-registered for 2006. We will be contacting people by phone or email only about future appointments. I encourage people to constantly check our website for updated information. There is also a section on the website for do it yourself instructions. We receive about 30-50 calls per day. Remember, right now Project Clean Slate is only for incidents involving Multnomah County and limited to certain traffic and criminal offenses.
You must also have a phone number without "call blocking".

While my stay at Inverness Jail, I had spoke with a couple of men that had the oppertunity to attend the Project Clean Slate Program. They had nothing but good things to say. I am in deffant need of this great oppertunity to get my life in order. I have lost my drivers licence over 20 years ago. And have not been able to get it back. This would be a Great Blessing if given the chance to recieve the help of this program. I also have a soon to be wife and 3 children who depend on me and would be very greatfull if given this oppertunity. So please don't forget me at the next available slot that I could attend. Thank you for your time and patience in this matter. God Bless You

I am a person who has made some bad choices in my life and I would like to start over, but because of my Felony charges for a DUII I can’t even get a job at Plaid Pantry or Fred Myers and they only pay min wages or an apartment. I need a chance to start over again. I found out about Project Clean Slate when I was at a job interview not from my case manger (P.O.) you would think that they would inform you about this type of information so you can have a chance to start over but they don’t. I will have five years of sobriety February the thirteen and have been on probation five years March seventh with no sanctions on my probation. They have extended my probation for a year because I have not been able to pay off my fines and fees or restitution. I need a chance to start over and if you can help me I would appreciate it. Right now I’m unemployed and have no place of my own. If it was not for some friends I would be living on the streets.

Sharrall: if you can gather 1,000 individual donations of $5, the city will give you a $150,000 to run for public office. No experience required.

Have you thought about becoming a public artist (2% of all city construction/remodel projects are going to be spent on the purchase of public art)?

You might even be able to get a grant for community visioning (see "Overview of City Grant Opportunities fact sheet on Portlandonline.Com), up to $15,000.

I'm sorry to deliver the bad news, Sharrall, but the Community Corrections budget (at Multnomah County) has not kept up with growing demand for services. I hope you can find a job and a better life. Congratulations on your sobriety and the blessing of good friends. Good luck!

Hello, I have wondered what happened and never got a notice - after the day in line for hours -even my brother but today I was at PCC and asked a lady named Nova. She atleast gave me some clarification, I had a court date (also my brother) and would have got 8 hours of community service. If we had made the court date, but since we weren't notified or maybe because we moved- it didn't get forward. I will not give up; this is a wonderful opportunity. I have done a great job being clean and sober for almost 4 years. Please, this is so important can we reschedule. It was so disappointing to hear of my friends going through and getting notified but not us. Please let me know . Thank you so much!!
