Governor signs House Bill 3441
Mary Jo Markle
House Bill 3441, a bill that enables the City of Portland to add citizens to its budget committee, was signed by Governor Kulongoski on June 29, 2005. Commissioner Adams spearheaded this city effort to amend an Oregon statute that prohibited citizens from serving on the budget committees of large municipalities in Oregon. Sam was able to attend a bill signing ceremony on July 28, 2005.
This Fall, the city will seek citizens who are interested in serving on the city's budget committee. Once the application process begins, all the information will be posted on this website as well as on Portland online. Until then, please call Mary Jo Markle (503)823-1125 for more information.
