about the plastic bags...
i think getting rid of them completely is a good idea for our environment. what i would like to see though are the reusable canvss/cloth bags, maybe the city gives them out for free or a lot cheaper. maybe just cheaper at first, as an awareness, everyone get happy about our new idea, kind of a thing.
because if paper bags are not much better, and seem actually to contribute to a lot of different aweful things, i, as a grocery shopper, would like to use canvass bags instead. and yet i, as a poor, single mother, can't always afford plopping down $10 for a reusable bag if i forget mine at home. (or to get one for the first time, really).
also, at my house, i reuse the plastic bags i get from the grocery sotre as garbage bags to cut out the cost there. i would like to know that what i'm putting back into the earth is a friendly as humanly possible.
