While Oregon's weather and rich soil allow us to grow many plants from around the world, some of these plants can cause serious harm by spreading outside the garden. Invasive plants can threaten water quality, wildlife and our economy by crowding out native plants, increasing erosion and competing with agriculture crops. GardenSmart Oregon can help gardeners choose plants that are attractive and environmentally friendly.
GardenSmart Oregon is a partnership of OPB's Stop the Invasion [1] campaign, Bureau of Environmental Services [2], and many others.
