The Oregonian: Warming could fry salmonBy Lisa Libby
Warming could fry salmon The region's signature fish can't survive in warm waters; they're already feeling the heat. By Michael Milstein, The Oregonian (January 6, 2008) Salmon survived massive dams and fishing fleets, but now they're feeling the heat of global warming -- and it's likely to hammer them as hard as anything they've faced. Although the government has spent billions to save salmon, warming will probably force even more extreme measures in coming years at the expense of water and power for people. Biologists who have spent their careers watching over the fish said temperatures expected to rise an average of 0.2 to 1 degree per decade over the next century will probably wipe out some fragile runs of salmon. Snow will fall as rain instead, feeding floods that flush away their eggs. Heat waves will multiply, leaving less refuge to which they can retreat. Click here for the rest of the story.

I'd rather listen to a former Vice President than someone who has nothing better to do then cut and paste the same 4 comments, over and over and over and over again, on other people's blogs. Tha-anks » reply

Lenny Anderson: Perhaps the biggest opportunity to address global warming in this region is the Columbia River Crossing. After you understand that data, you can discount some of the recent warming because of warming biases in most of the measuring stations because of their inappropriate placement. After the warmers admit to that little inconvenient truth” they then need to further downward adjust recent “warming” due to temperature sensor problems. When they finally admit to their errors, we will have little, if any, warming since the 1930s. We may even turnout to be cooler. If you don’t know abot these problems you are simply not sufficiently informed to comment on this subject. Lenny Anderson: I hope Sam will look for a solution there that actually reduces vehicle trips and does not bring thousands more motor vehicles into Portland. Instituting variable priced tolling on I-5 and I-205 now will reduce congestion, generate income for whatever gets built and Lenny Anderson: make a strong statement to the world about how this region will address global warming. How about it Sam? For lurkers: If you don’t understand all of the above 5 points, you have no business claiming that global warming is man caused and therefore man curable. JK: How about it Sam, how many people do you want to put out of work following idiots that advocate catastrophic (as opposed to moderate) global warming. Thanks » reply
Gasoline is still cheaper than bottled water.Submitted by Mister Tee on Sat, 02/02/2008 - 6:58am.
Good thinking: the same strategy was used to narrow the field of Sellwood Bridge replacements. Let's build a new bus lane, two new bike lanes, and a wide sidewalk on both sides. But don't increase the vehicular lanes, because that might make driving more convenient. We need to force those flat-earthers to sit in a traffic for an hour or two if we are going to sell them on public transit. » reply

JK:Huhh? The world has been cooling since 1998, the year tied with 1934 as the warmest since the little ice age, using the best available data, maintained by one of Al Gore's advisors at NASA, the poor persecuted Jim Hansen. (He was shamed into removing errors in the data that falsely showed 1998 to be the warmest ever. Coming corrections will show that 1998 was not even close to the 1930s.)
Where have you been? Oh, sorry, I bet you have been still listening to a second rate Baptist minister and failed presidential candidate who is making millions of dollars hyping the global warming fallacy.
Thanks
