We're looking for a policy associate to help us work on our Creative Capacity Strategy [1]. The purpose of the strategy is to build and support a sustainable creative community through prioritized strategies with clear costs and achievable ways to fund them.
Over the next six months, we will be performing research on public opinion, best practices and methodologies for supporting the creative community in our region. This includes regular committee meetings, interviews and polling.
Description
This is an unpaid internship.
Primarily, you will be working with Sam's arts & culture policy team including staff, consultants and partners in two main capacities:
- Logistics for public meetings, presentations and communications (minutes, web updates, synthesizing input)
- Researching public funding methodologies and strategies
You may be asked to take on smaller office tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Interest in arts policy
- Ability to focus on one major project, while simultaneously handling other smaller tasks
- Good communication skills
- Excellent writing ability
- Superior research skills
- Ability to commit to and adhere to a regular set schedule of 15-20 hours and hopefully available Tuesday mornings before 10:30
- Availability for a few evening meetings and events
- Ability to work well within a diverse office
- General computer literacy and office skills
- Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to take direction, meet deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision
- Flexibility and adaptability to change

Term
- Three months, with the option for an additional three months, to begin upon hire
