Why I love PortlandSubmitted by Shannon on Tue, 10/09/2007 - 1:55pm.
Just another reason why I love my new home Portland Oregon. Another landmark event to be an example to the rest of the country on how things should be done...Go Portland PS Congrat Sam...I am in Scotland at the moment but as soon as I get back I want to be on the trail...the campaign trail. Thank you for the issue on the comment and for the information,Today the Oregon Secretary of State announced that opponents of Oregon's Landmark Domestic Partnership bill failed to collect enough signatures to refer the new law to the ballot. In January 2008, the state will begin granting same sex couples the legal benefits of marriage, benefits heterosexual couples have long enjoyed. LGBT couples and families will find comfort in the recognition the law provides. » reply
A hard fight, valiantly won!Submitted by M. Storm on Fri, 10/12/2007 - 11:25am.
As a member of Oregon's longest running GLBT organization, The Imperial Sovereign Rose Court, I'd like to thank Basic Rights Oregon, and the entire community for banding together to fight for our rights! To continue the fight, I encourage everyone to come to Darcelle XV Showplace (308 NW Couch) this Sunday, October 14th between noon and 7pm and vote for Candidate 2, Hollywood Nightengale Rose for the position of Rose Emperor XXXIV! He will do his hardest to usher this organization back to the forefront of the gay community in Portland, and bring our community together as a cohesive unit. Way to go Sam! » reply

Good.
As a straight male who has been married for 13 years - this makes me happy. While not as good as actual equal rights - this is a huge step forward.
I have never understood the opposition to allowing GLBT couples the right to be miserably committed just like straight couples.
:)
I can't really think any benefits of marriage, but I am glad that everyone can now have them.
OK, all kidding aside. This is a good thing, long overdue, and very important. Huzzah!
