Council unanimously votes to reduce threshold for lobbying activities.
Under the changes, lobbying entities who spend more than eight hours "attempting to influence the official action of City officials" must register with the auditor. Additionally, elected officials and bureau directors must publish their official calendars. This effort is to disclose who is meeting with city leaders and whose interests are being represented. Sam is pleased with the threshold reduction and said yesterday that "Portland is a very engaged City. Residents deserve to know how their money is being spent, how decisions are made, and why." Please give us your feedback on this issue and how we can make the city more accountable to you. RELEVANT DOCUMENTS Posted Thu, 08/09/2007 - 3:17pm.

I think it's interesting to
I think it's interesting to see these changes taking place, as it seems to me that people are finally wising up about the shroud City Hall blankets us with.
Great local blog, and if you're interested, check us out to find great free local content for it.
