Sam is no fly by night

Dscn2609  Sam kicked off the noise flight test day (June 18, 2005). As a North Portland resident, Sam is not just a fly by night on this issue. He cares about the impacts of noise to his neighbors and has Gordon and myself working diligently on solutions. We'd especially like to thank the Port, FAA, air cargo operators and all the citizens that have worked long and hard on this issue. As the Commissioner in charge of A.I.R. (Airport Issues Roundtable), we'll continue to be involved in reducing noise impacts for Portland's citizens. Dscn2614 Tell us what you think of airport noise.

re: Sam is no fly by night

hi maria

this would be a great post where you could send around the link [http://www.commissionersam.com/sam_adams/2005/06/sam_is_no_fly_b.html#comments] to interested parties like maybe neighborhood associations and these citizens that have worked hard on this issue?

Noise in Kenton

I really hope that commissioner Adams continues to address noise issues in North Portland. I live in Kenton, and I have to close all of my windows at night just to get a good night's sleep. The extreme noise from the trains, the heat of summer and occasionally the raceway make sleeping very difficult. I believe that there could be a simple solution to this problem. I hope that someone is in contact with the train companies and investigating alternatives to the repeated blarings at all hours of the night. I'm glad this is an importatn issue for Sam Adams. Please keep up the good work!
Also, I read the noise report for North Portland and was confounded by the wording of the results. Rather than saying a majority of North Portland residents aren't seriously bothered by the noise, the finding should say 1/3 of the North Portland residents ARE seriously bothered by the noise. That's a huge percentage. Also 1/10 people have filed complaints. That is a significant percentage of the N. Portland population that has had enough of the noise and is taking action. You can count me in that climbing 10 percent.
Thank you,

Pete Carpenter

then go back to California

I just love it how these Californians and people from other states are flocking here and then demanding things that have been here LONG before their arrival go away. Go back to California or whatever hell hole you came from if you don't like these supposed annoyances.
