The arts benefit everyone, but in recent years, the connection between a vibrant arts community and a business's bottom line has become even clearer. A community rich with arts and culture attracts more than just tourists and diners. It attracts creative and innovative workers who in turn contribute to a city's business success.

Working to strengthen this connection, Sam proposed and the City Council approved a City government matching pledge of every dollar contributed to Work for Art, up to $200,000 during the 2006/07 campaign. The results: over $95,000 has been collected from Portlanders, more than the previous two years of the Work for Art Program combined!

Work for Art is primarily a workplace giving program, but anyone or any business can participate. Through Work for Art, you can designate a gift to a particular organization or make a donation that supports over 75 organizations in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington Counties.
