Liaison to Portland Office of Transportation
Roland Chlapowski Roland Chlapowski focuses on transportation-related issues with the Portland Office of Transportation (PDOT) and serves as the liaison to PDOT for Sam. Educated with a background in economics, he also lends his efforts to economic policy issues from time to time.
Roland grew up in the Boston area and moved to Portland to attend Reed College. There, he was active in community service, environmental activism, and student government. He also worked in the Reed Admission Office and was an economics, math, and biology tutor at the school's Quantitative Skills Center. He graduated from Reed with a bachelor’s degree in economics and has come to love Portland so much that he now calls it home.
Interested in environmental issues, public health, economic and social policy, Roland wrote his thesis on the economics of quality of life. He has also written several editorials [1] regarding same-sex marriage that have been published in both Portland and Boston. Now he lends his energies to furthering Sam’s economic development and transportation goals.
When not in the office, Roland is an avid reader, a news junkie, nature enthusiast, vegan gastronome, and collector of vintage clothes and furniture.
