Buried Brownfield Treasure!

Can you identify any of these bottles? Can you identify any of these bottles? What’s another word for pirate treasure?

In the age of swashbuckling pirate movies set in the Caribbean our own brownfield crew has discovered a treasure of its own. During the last day of environmental cleanup at the brownfield site on North Lombard in downtown St. Johns, a trove of old bottles was unearthed, some of which could be over 100 years old. The variety of old bottles includes a ceramic jug, medicine, whisky, beer, and soda bottles. Some are complete mysteries. This goes to show that there is more under our feet than you’d think. If you or someone you know would volunteer time for bottle identification, please contact Clark Henry at (503) 823-5863 or clarkh@bes.ci.portland.or.us
