Is Terry for real? I can't

Is Terry for real? I can't find any humor in his posts, but maybe i'm just daft.
I don't like plastic bags for many reasons, the least of which, they annoy the heck out of me after they seem to multiply and congregate in my drawers and kitchen closet.
What really, truly bothers me is that the benefit to us humans is really quite small, while the detriment to marine life and other animals is rather significant. Plastic bags kill LOTS of animals, and quite painfully so. Why should they have to die so I can put ten items in four doubled bags (which is how my purchases at the store were recently packaged)? What makes me so special?
I have reusable bags that are machine washable and comfortable to carry; Terry, do you really like to feel the plastic cutting into your hands when the bag is heavy? Please.
37 million barrels of oil to produce plastic bags? It takes resources to extract that oil, to pipe/ship it, refine it, process it into bags (not to mention the oil needed to make other plastic packaging); why not take that out of the system now?
I lived for a few months where a plastic bag factory was operating, and it wasn't pleasant.
