On May 1st of this year, Wal-Mart stores in the Portland area saw a huge drop in business. Some, if not all the stores were almost empty. That was because the majority of the Wal-Mart customer base is Hispanic. On May 1st, a large number of Hispanics were attending demonstrations for immigration reform and vowed not to do any business transactions that day. A former cashier at the Eastport Plaza Wal-Mart store told me that on average, less than ten customers a day that went through his register were White. He also told me that clothing makes up Wal-Mart
