Thanks for the budget pointer. IF I read this right in '07-08 we are spending $34M out of $47M on capital projects downtown with the bus mall taking $23M or approx 50%. For 08-09 we spend %58M out of $98M downtown with $34M on streetcars alone. This is all CoP money and NOT Federal money from what I can see.

The streetcar, while highly inefficient (to the point where you don't even charge riders) is a boon to developers like Mr Ashforth who now get a big prop value boost.

This is my complaint, the entire city pays taxes and a disproportionate amount goes downtown. We can't spend any money on the Sellwood bridge since that is the county's problem, but we can build a streetcar/bike bridge and almost (well at least until Mr Adams thinks he has the election in hand) built another bike bridge on Flanders.
