death of cyclist on Burnside

I urge you to take steps to make cycling safer in Portland following the tragic death of Tracey Starling last week. My two sons and their friends, or whom Tracey was one, all bike to PSU through dowtown Portland on a daily basis.
Could video cameras be mounted on large trucks with screens in the cabs so the driver could check his "blind spots" before a turn? Could such a system be made mandatory in Portland?
Could Portland develop a stop light system, as in many European cities, that allow bicyclists to move across intersections before cars and trucks?
Could more be done to promote driver and bicyclist safety awarness in Portland?

Thank you for your attention,
Stan Shadle
