I'm sorry but I cannot figure out what the heck this post from Jeff Jahn is trying to say. Are self-proclaimed "sophisticated" artists so far removed from the interests of the broader community that they cannot stoop to share our common needs, wants and desires? You've used the word "seriousness" 4 times here, but I have no idea what you mean by it. I thought the discussion the other night was very serious and thoughtful.

Your grumpiness is part of the very problem that Sam is talking about. Artists who promote their own superiority and self-interests above the common good are preventing the lot of us from getting organized and acquiring better engagement in and resources for the work we all do which in turn benefits the world around us. Please don't hold us back.
