Jim: Demand for more public transit in this country will grow exponentially in response to concerns for global warming and diminishing oil reserves.

JK: Hi Jim. Didn't you happen to notice the big drop in oil price? It is under $75!

There is no oil shortage, just a speculative bubble that is in the process of bursting. The whole peak oil paranoia is now being exposed for what it is: wishful thinking on the part transit system advocates, greedy light rail/street car multinational corporation profiteers, and deluded smart growth zealots.
