Come to the Come Back Fair!

Portland Public Schools, in collaboration with the Portland Schools Foundation and the alternative educational options are sponsoring a Come Back Fair.

The Come Back Fair is an opportunity for youth that are no longer in school to get back on track and find an educational program that fits their needs.



PDX Pop Now concert brings crowds

Portland City Hall and the folks from PDX Pop Now! recently came together to put on a concert promoting youth involvement in music. Bands playiPDX Pop Now! Show at City HallPDX Pop Now! Show at City Hallng at the July 25th show included Old Time Relijun, The Watery Graves and Little Sue.

The event came as Oregon is listed as the 48th state in the nation for per capita spending on the arts. Sam spoke at the event outlining his creative capacity strategy to increase funding for the arts in the state of Oregon. You can learn more about this strategy at www.creativecapacity.org



USA Today: Congested areas on crash course to ease traffic

Drivers frustrated by incidents that snarl rush-hour traffic - broken-down cars, fender benders, a tire or ladder in the roadway - are getting a break as states and cities launch aggressive campaigns to keep highways clear.
About one-fourth of all congestion on the nation's highways is related to incidents such as crashes, stalled or out-of-gas vehicles, or debris, says Jeffrey Paniati, assistant administrator for operations at the Federal Highway Administration (FHA). "Every time you have a lane blocked for one minute, it results in four minutes of delay," Paniati says.



An Organization in Need

Community Warehouse is a non-profit organization that gives donated household items and furniture, for free, to low-income individuals and families recovering from crisis. Over 3,000 households are served each year in the Portland area.

The items received by Community Warehouse are direct donations given by individuals from the Portland area community... like yourselves!

Silverware is always in need.Silverware is always in need.Among the household items currently needed by Community Warehouse include: pots and pans, silverware, cooking utensils, casserole and baking dishes, toasters, coffee makers, mixers, alarm clocks, blankets, twin size bed sheets and full size bed sheets.
